Saturday morning began the way most outreach days do — a briefing over tea, a stack of information leaflets, and a checklist of the households our volunteers hoped to visit before noon.
What stood out wasn't the number of leaflets handed out. It was the conversations that followed once people realized no one was there to sell them anything or judge their choices.
"People don't remember the pamphlet. They remember that someone sat down and actually listened."
